Canadian traveller Kristal is preparing to leave Australia when a chance encounter with Lisette turns her final night in Melbourne into an unexpected one-night stand. Neither woman expects to see the other again, but by morning the city has entered COVID lockdown, Kristal’s journey home has been thrown into uncertainty and she has nowhere to stay. Lisette offers her a temporary place to live, transforming a fleeting attraction into an intense and unpredictable domestic arrangement.

As days of isolation stretch into weeks, the two women are forced to navigate clashing personalities, unfamiliar boundaries and the awkward realities of sharing a home with someone they have only just met. Frustration gradually gives way to intimacy as Kristal and Lisette discover the loneliness, fears and vulnerabilities beneath each other’s defences. Yet the closer they become, the harder it is to ignore the uncertainty surrounding them: Kristal’s life remains in Canada, the lockdown will eventually end and neither woman knows whether their relationship can exist beyond the extraordinary circumstances that brought them together.

Warm, intimate and emotionally honest, *Lockdown Lovers* is an LGBTQ+ romantic drama about two strangers finding connection at a moment when the world has been forced apart. Combining a distinctive international premise with character-driven storytelling, the film explores isolation, cultural difference and the frightening possibility that an accidental relationship may become too important to leave behind.
